The Saxophone

The Saxophone is the most sublime musical instrument ever crafted by the hand of man.

I have played the Tenor Saxophone since elementary school, and still play a little -- but I've heard it said that a gentleman is someone who can play the saxophone, but does not. I also play the guitar and sing in a loud voice.

My mother played the C-Melody saxophone in an all-girl all-saxophone band in the 1920s. I still have her Conn saxophone and even play it once in a while. It's in mighty fine shape although it's almost 70 years old and hasn't had an overhaul in about 20 years.

I have a Selmer Mark VI Tenor that I bought new in the early 1970s. It's the horn I always wanted but never could afford whan I was in school.

The Nuclear Whales is (are?) a remarkable contemporary saxophone orchestra.
