Memphis Police Department Reserve

In Memphis, the police reserve officers go through the police academy just like the regular officers. We go to a 40-hour in-service training class every year, and qualify with our pistols twice a year. We work the same assignments as any regular officer.

I'm in my 36th year as a Reserve Officer on the Memphis Police Department.

I spent many years in squad cars, mostly on one-man patrol in south Memphis.

I worked several years in the General Investigation Bureau and the Felony Response Bureau, doing preliminary field investigations of homicides and other violent crimes. Now I just work special events and visit with the tourists.
